Wakeman Chemell is in his second year as an Athletic Performance Coach at Dallas Baptist University. Chemell comes to DBU with eight years of coaching experience. He is responsible for the strength and conditioning for Men’s Track and Field, Men’s Lacrosse, and Women’s Tennis, and will assist with Women’s Volleyball, Women’s Soccer, and STUNT.
During the summer of 2025, Coach Wake was a strength and conditioning intern with the University of Arkansas, where he gained experience with Women’s Soccer, Women’s Volleyball, Track and Field, Women’s Swim and Dive, and Football.
Before coming to DBU, he was at Saint Francis University in Pennsylvania, where he worked as a Graduate Assistant and was responsible for the training of Men’s and Women’s Track and Field, Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Men’s and Women’s Tennis, and assisted with the development of SFU Football and Softball during the 2023/24 season.
Prior to Saint Francis University, Coach Wake was an intern at Duquesne University in the summer of 2023, assisting with the Duquesne Football and Basketball teams.Â
In the spring of 2023, he was an intern for the University of Pittsburgh and assisted with the training for Women’s Soccer, Men’s and Women’s Track and Field, Wrestling, Women’s Volleyball, and Swim and Dive. From spring 2022 to fall of 2022, he was at D1 Training in Shreveport. From the spring of 2018 until the spring of 2022, Coach Wake was a head coach for Elite Football Club, where he worked with soccer players from 5 to 30 years of age and was the Academy Director from 2021 until 2022, during which he was an assistant coach for the Blue Goose Soccer Club in the USL2 for their premier season.
