Patriots Roll Past Tigers for Third Straight Win

The Dallas Baptist Patriot Basketball Team won their third straight on Tuesday evening, with a 78-66 victory over the visiting Tigers from East Central University. The Patriots are now 3-1 on the season, and remain undefeated at the Burg Center.

Trailing by five points after the first ten minutes of play, Junior Armie Lewis sparked a 9-0 run for the Patriots with his three-pointer that gave DBU their first lead of the night, 22-18. The Tigers clawed their way back to tie the game five minutes later 28-28, and settled for a two point deficit at the half, 32-30.

The Patriots finally pulled away five minutes into the second half after putting together an 11-2 run. Sophomore Nick Fox stole the ball and found Lewis who capped off the run with a layup for a 52-42 lead with 9:19 left on the clock.

The Patriots pushed their lead to as much as 15 points with two minutes remaining thanks to pair of free throws from Senior Braxton Adamson. Two consecutive steals and a breakaway dunk by Junior T.J. Clark sealed the 12 point win for the Patriots.

DBU used a well balanced attack throughout the night, with five players finishing in double digits led by Fox who finished with 19 points. Clark added 13 points and Junior Jordan McGowen ended with 12 points and eight rebounds. Lewis and Adamson each chipped in 11 for the Patriots.

After a brief Thanksgiving break, DBU will resume action this Saturday, November 23, as they welcome Southern Arkansas to the Burg Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
