DBU Scores 19 Unanswered in Comeback Win over Ouachita Baptist

The Dallas Baptist Patriot Basketball Team used a 19-0 run late in the second half to overcome a double-digit deficit, and defeat Ouachita Bapitst, 91-82, Monday evening at the Burg Center. With the win, the Patriots improve to 4-2 on the season.

Trailing by ten at the half, DBU faced a double-digit deficit for the majority of the second half, thanks to hot shooting from the Tigers. Ouachita couldn't seem to miss throughout the first 34 minutes of the game, connecting on 59 percent from the field and 47 percent from behind the 3-point line.

After falling behind by as much as 14 points in the second half, the Patriots mounted a comeback thanks to some hot shooting of their own. Down 80-68 with just under seven minutes to play, Senior Braxton Adamson caught fire and sparked the DBU rally.

Adamson scored 13 points in just over a minute of play thanks to three 3-pointers and four free throws, giving DBU their first lead of the second half. Junior Armie Lewis joined the action with a 3-pointer of his own less than 30 seconds later that gave the Patriots an 86-80 lead with 3:17 left in the game.

A jumper by Junior Jordan McGowen and a pair of free throws from Senior Jared Whitmire completed the comeback for the Patriots and secured the 91-82 win.

Adamson finished the evening with 25 points on five-of-nine from behind the arc, and a perfect eight-for-eight from the charity stripe. Lewis had his highest scoring outing of the season with 19 points to go along with four assists and three steals, while McGowen added 14 points and seven rebounds.

The Patriots will now take to the road for a three-game swing beginning with a pair of games in Fort Smith, Arkansas against Henderson State and Arkansas-Monticello. DBU will face Henderson State this Friday, December 3, at 5:00 p.m.
