Patriots Stomp Henderson State, 85-65


The Dallas Baptist Patriot Basketball Team picked up an 85-65 win over Henderson State University Friday evening in Fort Smith, Arkansas. With the win, the Patriots improve to 5-2 on the season.

After a slow start that saw the Patriots down seven after the first six minutes, DBU locked in defensively and held Henderson State scoreless over the next seven minutes of play. Seven consecutive points by Sophomore Nick Fox and a layup by Senior Braxton Adamson capped of a 21-0 run that gave the Patriots a 30-15 lead with 7:23 left in the first half. A last second three-pointer by Junior Armie Lewis gave the Patriots their biggest lead of the first half, 48-26, at the break.

DBU continued to roll in the second, pushing their lead to as much as 25 late in the half. Adamson's second three-pointer of the night gave the Patriots a 72-47 advantage with 8:41 left on the clock. A jumper by Senior Michael Andrews with 54 seconds left in the game sealed the second win in a row for the Patriots.

Fox led all scorers in the game with 20 points while Adamson finished with 14. Junior Ishmael Awange turned in his best game of the season with nine points and eight rebounds.

Dallas Baptist will face the University of Arkansas-Monticello tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. in Fort Smith.
