Patriots Fall to Aggies

Box Score

The Dallas Baptist Patriots fell on the road at Oklahoma Panhandle State Saturday afternoon, 93-87. The Aggies shot 43 percent from behind the arc, and capitalized on seven Patriot turnovers late in the game on their way to the six point win. The loss drops the Patriots to 14-9 on the season, and 7-5 in the Heartland Conference.

The Patriots started out strong after two free throws by Armie Lewis gave DBU a nine point advantage halfway through the first half. After Eddie Gloviak's jumper kept the lead at nine two minutes later, the Aggies used a 13-2 run to come back and take a two point lead with 3:56 left in the half. A steal by Bryan Baumann with 34 seconds remaining led to an open jumper by Jared Whitmire, sending the Patriots to halftime trailing by one, 41-40.

DBU held as much as a 14 point lead in the second half after Braxton Adamson connected on his pair of free throws with 9:05 remaining on the clock. However, the Aggies used full court pressure to force five turnovers over the next seven DBU possessions, cutting the Patriot lead to one, 71-70, with 6:15 left to play.

Aaron Ruiz connected on his fourth three-pointer of the night at the 4:47 mark, sparking a 16-6 Aggie run, and giving OPSU the lead for good.

Jordan McGowen and Eddie Gloviak led the way for the Patriots with 19 and 18, respectively. Whitmire added 15, while Lewis and Adamson each had 12 points apiece.

The Patriots return home for their final four games of the regular season, as they host Lincoln University on Thursday, February 18. DBU won the previous matchup against Lincoln, 94-74, back on January 16. Tip-off for Thursday's game is set for 7:00 p.m.
