Patriots Drop Second Game of YMBL Classic to Lamar, 7-3

The Dallas Baptist Patriots fell to 7-3 on the season after being defeated by the Cardinals from Lamar University on Friday night, 7-3, in second game action of the YMBL Classic.

DBU Junior Tyler Robbins singled up the middle to start the game for the Patriots, and later scored on a Cardinal error to give the Patriots their only lead of the night, 1-0.

After drawing two walks and a wild pitch from DBU Freshman Aaron Gilbreath to start the bottom of the first, Lamar right fielder Quentin Luquette tied the game for the Cardinals with an RBI single to left field.

Lamar held a two-run advantage in the sixth inning when Cardinal Center Fielder Anthony Moore hit a three-run homerun to left center, making it a 6-1 game.

The Patriots were shutdown until the ninth inning, but were only able to tack on two more runs when Senior Travis Meiners hit a two-run homerun over the left field wall, scoring Krizan who reached on a fielder's choice.

Gilbreath is stuck with the loss for the Patriots after pitching 4 innings, giving up three runs on three hits, after striking out four.

The Patriots will conclude their three game road trip tomorrow, when then face Penn State University at 11:00 a.m.
