Patriots Punch Ticket to NCCAA National Tournament

The Dallas Baptist Patriot Basketball Team punched their ticket to the NCCAA National Tournament with an 81-73 win over Mid-America Christian University, Saturday afternoon in Oklahoma City. Being crowned Regional Champions means the Patriots are one of only eight teams headed to Oakland City, Indiana for the NCCAA National Championships.

For the second game in a row, the Patriots were led by Sophomore Nick Fox who finished with 26 points and seven rebounds. The Patriots had three other players in double digits including Senior Braxton Adamson with 18 points, Junior Jordan McGowen with 14, and Junior Armie Lewis who finished with 10 points.

The Patriots led for the majority of the game, with their biggest lead coming five minutes before the break. A pair of free throws by Junior T.J. Clark gave DBU a 16-point lead, 30-14, with 4:58 remaining before halftime.

A three-pointer by Mid-America with eight seconds on the clock, trimmed the DBU lead to 37-27 as both teams headed to the locker room.

MACU continued their comeback in the second half, cutting their deficit to just five points with 11:46 to go, but the Patriots responded with their biggest run of the night. Adamson capped off a 10-1 run over the next two minutes for DBU, extending the lead back to double digits, 61-47, with 9:24 left.

The Patriots sealed the win with strong free throw shooting as they went 7-for-8 from the charity stripe in the final two minutes of the game.

The NCCAA National Tournament will be held in Oakland City, Indiana from March 17-19.
