Box Score
The Dallas Baptist Patriot Baseball Team improved to 23-12 on the season after defeating the University of Oklahoma, 3-2, on Tuesday evening. The loss in Norman marks only the fourth home loss of the season at L. Dale Mitchell Park for the 11th-ranked Sooners as they drop to 18-4 at home, and 26-10 on the season.
Senior ace
Brandon Williamson (7-1) picked up the win for DBU after pitching seven innings, allowing only two runs on seven hits, and striking out five. Senior
Chris Haney earned his ninth save of the year after coming on in the ninth.
After two scoreless innings to start the game, the Patriots struck first, putting three runs on the board in the top of the third. Junior
Joel Hutter led off the inning with a double and eventually scored on a RBI single by Junior
Landon Anderson for the first run of the night. Senior
Tyler Robbins followed with a walk and both runners later scored, thanks to a two-RBI double down the right field line from Senior
Jason Krizan. Krizan currently leads the nation in doubles with 24 so far this season.
The Sooners scored one run in the fourth and one in the fifth to make it a 3-2 game, but that's as close as they would get. Haney entered the game in the ninth and struck out the first two batters he faced. After allowing a single that brought the winning run to the plate, he sealed the win for the Patriots by picking up a fielder's choice for the final out of the game.
The Patriots will return to action on April 21, as they host a three-game home series against Seattle University. The first game of the series on Thursday is slated for 6:30 p.m.
