Patriots Fall to Seattle Despite Hutter's Three Homerun Effort

Box Score

After winning the first two games of the series, the Dallas Baptist Patriot Baseball Team lost game three to the University of Seattle, Saturday afternoon at Patriot Field. Junior Joel Hutter blasted three homeruns in his four at-bats, but it wasn't enough as DBU fell to the Redhawks, 13-6. With the loss, the Patriots drop to 25-13 on the season.

Junior Jordan Staples was dealt the loss for DBU after pitching four and two thirds innings, allowing four runs on five hits.

After a scoreless first, Seattle posted the first run on the board in the top of the second, but Hutter responded with his first homerun in the bottom half of the inning. His solo shot to left field tied the game at one run apiece.

The Redhawks scored three runs over the next two innings before Hutter made his second plate appearance in the bottom half of the fourth. After Junior Kenny Hatcher reached on a Redhawk error to lead off the inning, Hutter connected on his second homerun of the day to make it a 4-3 game in favor of Seattle.

The Redhawks added three runs in the sixth and four in the seventh to take a commanding 11-3 lead before Senior Jason Krizan joined Hutter in the homerun column. His two-run shot in the bottom of the seventh pulled DBU to within six, 11-5.

Hutter's third homerun of the afternoon came in the eighth, but his heroic efforts couldn't seem to keep pace with the red hot Redhawks. Seattle added one run in the eighth and a final run in the ninth to take the 13-6 win.

DBU will host TCU on March 25 at Patriot Field. Game time is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
