Robbins' Three Homeruns Leads Patriots Past UAPB

The Dallas Baptist Patriot Baseball Team opened up a four game series against Arkansas Pine Bluff on Thursday evening with a 20-0 win over the Golden Lions. DBU improves to 18-11 on the year, while UAPB drops to 7-21.

Senior Brandon Williamson earned his sixth win of the season after pitching six innings, allowing only two hits, and striking out five.

The Patriots put the game away early after tallying eight runs on five hits in the bottom of the first inning. Senior Tyler Robbins scored the first run of the night with his fourth homerun of the season, giving DBU a 1-0 lead. Senior Jason Krizan followed with a double and after a walk by Junior Ryan Behmanesh, both runners executed a double steal to bring Junior Junior Joel Hutter to the plate with two runners in scoring position. Hutter delivered a two-RBI single to give DBU a 3-0 advantage.

After a double by Junior Landon Anderson and a walk by Junior Kenny Hatcher loaded the bases, UAPB walked in the next two Patriot runs. Sophomore Austin Elkins picked up a sacrifice fly to score Hatcher and Krizan delivered his second double of the inning to score the final two runs, making it 8-0 in favor of DBU.

Hatcher gave DBU a 10-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth as he scored both Patriot runs with his first homerun of the season.

Robbins blasted both his second and third homeruns in the fifth as he led a nine-run inning for the Patriots, giving DBU a commanding 19-0 lead.

Junior Logan Brumley capped off the scoring for the Patriots with a RBI single in the bottom of the sixth, giving DBU the 20-0 win.

The Patriots will continue their series with the Golden Lions with a double header on Friday afternoon. The first game of the day is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
