The Dallas Baptist Patriot Baseball Team picked up two wins on Friday, defeating the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff in a double header. After a lopsided win in game one on Thursday, the Patriots continued their pounding against the Golden Lions with a 17-4 victory in game two and a 16-1 win in game three. After posting 53 runs in the past two days, DBU improves to 20-11 with the two wins.

Game 1

Junior Jordan Staples moved to 4-0 on the season, picking up the win in the first game of the day. Staples threw six innings, allowing four earned runs on eight hits.

The Patriots scored at least one run in every inning except for the fourth, including a three spot in the bottom of the first. After a pair of walks and a single to load the bases, Junior Joel Hutter singled through the right side to score the first two runs of the day. Junior Landon Anderson then picked up a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Junior Ryan Behmanesh and giving DBU an early 3-0 lead.

In the second Junior Jason Krizan delivered a RBI single to give the Patriots a 4-0 lead.

After failing to push anyone across the plate in Thursday's matchup, the Golden Lions scored their first four runs of the series in the third, knotting the game at four runs apiece.

However, that would be the only runs scored for the duration of the game by UAPB, as their woes at the plate continue against the Patriot pitching staff.

After scoring one run in the bottom of the third and a solo homerun by Anderson in the fifth, DBU put the game away in the bottom half of the sixth as they used seven hits to post 11 runs on the board. Senior Tyler Robbins belted his fourth homerun of the series to score three and Anderson delivered a three-RBI triple to make it a 10-4 lead for the Patriots.

Behmanesh picked up two RBI off a triple near the end of the inning, capping the 11 run outing, and giving DBU the 17-4 win.

Game 2

Sophomore Jake Johansen got the start in the evening game, picking up his second win of the season after pitching four innings, only giving up two hits, and striking out four.

Still scoreless after the first, DBU took another early lead by posting four runs in the second inning. After a pair of walks and a single loaded the bases, Freshman KJ Alexander blasted his third grand slam of the season to give DBU a 4-0 lead. Alexander picked up back-to-back grand slams in a win over New Orleans earlier this season.

Robbins went back to work for the Patriots in the third, leading off with his fifth homerun in the past two days and eighth of the season.

Sophomore Duncan McAlpine gave DBU a 6-0 lead in the fourth with a leadoff homerun that sparked yet another multi-run inning for the Patriots. As soon as McAlpine cleared the bases, Alexander made it back-to-back homeruns with his fourth homerun of the season. The Patriots would go on to score five more runs in the inning to take a commanding 12-0 lead.

Behmanesh capped of the scoring for the Patriots in the fifth as he delivered the second grand slam of the day. Behmanesh's second homerun of the season gave DBU a 16-0 lead.

UAPB picked up their first run of the game in the seventh, leaving the score 16-1.

The Patriots will close out the series against Pine Bluff tomorrow afternoon as they look to complete their sweep of the Golden Lions. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
