The Dallas Baptist Patriot Men's Soccer Team dropped a heartbreaking 1-0 decision to visiting Newman University, Saturday, moving to 4-7-1 on the season. Of their seven losses, four have come by just one score, as DBU falls to 1-4-1 in Heartland Conference play.
The game was a defensive struggle from beginning to end, with the Jets striking for the lone goal with less than 15 minutes remaining, as Sebastien Negro sent a crossing pass that was knocked in by Zac Gramke.
Newman outshot the Patriots, 12-7, putting four shots on goal, compared to two for DBU.
Chuck Schober falls to 4-5-1, after registering three saves, including a big save on a Newman penalty kick. Steven Hamersky (1-0-0) earned two saves for his first decision of the season.
DBU heads back to the road next week, traveling to McMurry University, Thursday at 4 p.m., before taking on University of Texas-Permian Basin, Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
