Patriot Men's Soccer Falls to Visiting St. Mary's


The Dallas Baptist Patriot Men's Soccer Team closed their 2012 home schedule, Saturday, dropping a 3-0 decision to St. Mary's University. The Patriots (4-11-1, 1-7-1) will travel to St. Edward's University, Saturday, Nov. 3, for the regular season finale at 2:30 p.m.

Saturday's game started slowly on the offensive end, as neither team scored through 40 minutes. The visitors were able to quickly grab the game momentum, however, scoring two goals in the final four minutes of the first half, both by Armando Macias.

The Rattlers (5-9-1, 4-4-1) added one more insurance score just over 13 minutes into the second half, a goal by Zach Strater, assisted by Andrew Carrasco. Carrasco also earned the assist on the second goal, with Aaron Stares registering one assist in the contest, as well.

All totaled, the Patriots were outshot, 13-5, with the Rattlers putting six shots on goal, while blanking the home squad. David Balyeat turned in the top offensive effort for the Patriots, registering three shots.

Chuck Schober (4-9-1) had three saves in goal for DBU in the loss. Patrick Kasperitis moves to 5-8-0 with the win. Saturday was also Senior Day, as the Patriots' lone senior, Michael Barnard, was honored with a pre-game presentation.
