DBU got off to a quick start as they led the Moundbuilders by 13 points just 11 minutes in to regulation. Fox and Kirschke led the Patriots in the first quarter as the team shot nearly 45% from the field and managed nearly 40% from three point land. The Patriots carried an eight point advantage heading in to halftime.
The Moundbuilders cut their deficit to three points just four minutes in to play when Taylor Johnson drained a three from outside the arch. The Patriots bounced back and extended their lead by 11 points with an aggressive inside-the-paint bucket from Junior
Remy Ndiaye.
The Moundbuilders made one last run but fell short to the determined Patriots who concluded their weekend effort with a 73-66 victory. The Patriots improved to 5-5 on the season and remain undefeated in Heartland Conference play.
The Patriots will be back in action on Thursday, January 3, at the Burg Center as they face off against the Lions of Arkansas Fort Smith.
