Women's Soccer Resumes Heartland Action Versus Oklahoma Christian

DALLAS – The Dallas Baptist Women's Soccer Team resumes Heartland Conference play on Monday hosting Oklahoma Christian at 6:30pm. It has been a tough stretch for the Patriots (4-5-1), dropping three of its last four, including back-to-back shutouts after displaying its highest scoring output at McMurry in the conference opener.

PREVIOUS OUTING – Opening a six-game home stand, DBU outshot Southwestern Oklahoma State 15 to eight, but a goal by Samantha Nunez at the 70:48 mark lifted the Lady Bulldogs 1-0.

Senior Danielle Presley and Ashley Cox contributed a pair of shots on goal apiece to make up the eight total taken. Presley poured on a game-high six shots and sophomore Dixie Kurrus followed with four. Sophomore Ashley Cox recorded the other multi-shot game with two for a 100 percent shot on goal percentage.

SCOUTING OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN – In the Eagles most recent game, a two-goal deficit was erased, but Texas A&M-Commerce scored four unanswered goal to claim a 6-2 non-conference win. OCU (2-7-2, 0-1-1) enters Monday's contest seeking its first win after dropping three of four and finishing in a tie in the other match. The Eagles are also 0-4 on the road.

Somer Helms and Estefania Bermudez Delgado lead the team with four goals each, and have accounted for eight of the 12 team goals this season. Lindsey Williams has tallied 41 saves through 11 starts so far this season in the net.

Last season DBU won the matchup between the squads taking a 3-0 road victory. Junior Lea Sedwick and sophomores Lindsey Eccles and Cox all scored in the shutout.

ASHLEY COX STEADILY CONTRIBUTING – Second year starting forward Cox has been quietly contributing solid play for the Patriots so far this season. She's second in the team with three goals and third with eight points. DBU is 3-0 in games Cox finds the back of the net.

WORTH NOTING – Here are some other quick notes for Patriot's Women Soccer.
  • The remainder of October features all home Dallas Baptist matches in the friendly confines of Patriots Soccer Field.
