DALLAS – The Dallas Baptist Women's Soccer Team continues its longest home stand of the year on Monday against Texas A&M International. After dropping the first contest of a six-game stretch at Patriots Soccer Field, DBU has posted back-to-back shutouts to improve to 6-5-1 overall and 3-1 in the Heartland.
PREVIOUS OUTING – Senior Danielle Preseley extended her strong conference play, netting her seventh goal to maintain her spot as team leader. Six of the Flower Mound, Texas, native's goals have come against Heartland opponents. The Forward has scored in back-to-back games and has scored three of the teams last six goals.
Also chipping into the scoring column was sophomore
Ashley Cox. The Midlothian, Texas, native scored the second goal off an assist from Presley to put the game out of reach in the second half. This marked the second time the duo teamed up for creating a score, as Cox had delivered the assist on the first goal.
The pair of Patriot players have created a strong offensive force this season as Presley holds team bests in points (17), goals (7), shots (40) and matches a high in assists (3). Cox follows in many of these categories with points (11) goals (4), shots (36), and assists (3).
The win was junior Kerry Edward's fourth shutout win, and has gone 199 minutes without surrendering a goal.
SCOUTING TAMIU – Texas A&M International enters 2-9 overall and 2-4 in conference, but is coming off a victory over Oklahoma Christian. The Dustdevils prevailed in Saturday's contest 4-1 and snapped a three-game skid. Interestingly, the other TAMIU win occurred against Rogers State by the exact score 4-1.
Jessica Parker is coming off a strong performance where the junior notched a hat trick in the win over OCU. Christina Morales came close to the shutout but allowed one goal and picked up eight saves.
DBU swept the Dustdevils last season 2-0 with a pair of 3-1 finals at both venues. Sophomore
Lindsey Eccles, A. Cox, and Presley all scored goals in the victory at Dallas. On the road, sophomore
Dixie Kurrus knocked a pair of goals in, proving to be the difference maker. Eccles added an assist on one of the goals, and junior
Lea Sedwick placed a score in the victory. Edwards combined for two saves, gathering one in each contest and facing a total seven shots.
