THE RUNDOWN
The No. 1-ranked DBU Women's Soccer team etched their name into the school record books on Wednesday, clinching the Lone Star Conference regular season title and setting a new program record for most consecutive wins with their 15th straight victory, an emphatic 11-0 shutout of Sul Ross State at Lobo Soccer Field in Alpine, Texas. Seven different Patriots found the back of the net in the dominant performance, as DBU captured their sixth Lone Star Conference regular season crown since joining the league in 2019.
Â
The Patriots wasted no time seizing control, storming to a 3-0 lead within the opening 24 minutes behind goals from
Anne Louthan,
Parker Coe, and
Riley Olsen.
Â
The offensive onslaught continued after the break. In one of the most explosive stretches of the season, DBU struck six times in the first 15 minutes of the second half.
McKenna Vela led the surge, recording her first career hat trick in just a 10-minute span, while
Isabella Medina punctuated the scoring in the final 40 seconds to put an exclamation mark on the record-setting performance.
