Women's Soccer Concludes Home Stand Thursday

DALLAS – The Dallas Baptist Women's Soccer Team finishes the home portion of its regular season on Thursday in a makeup match against Newman University. The two squads return to the pitch after Saturday's original scheduled contest was cancelled due to inclement weather. Play was halted in the 42nd minute.

PREVIOUS OUTING – DBU stretched its season-high winning streak to four matches with a shutout in just as many games on Monday over Rogers State. The 2-0 final marks three straight games by that margin.

In this match sophomore Emilie MacDonald knocked in both goals leading the Patriots offense. She also was second on the squad with six shots in the victory. The team fired off 37 shots notching a season best for the team.

Junior Kerry Edwards worked her seventh shutout of the season and helps anchor a solid defense that hasn't allowed a goal in 379 minutes.

SCOUTING THE JETS – Newman (6-8, 3-4) dropped a Monday Heartland Conference match 2-0 versus Oklahoma Christian. Haley Borchers allowed two goals and grabbed five saves. NU did attempt 14 shots and six shots on goal, but couldn't get on the board.

The Jets do host Southwest Baptist in a non-conference match Wednesday night before taking on DBU.

A player to watch for the Jets is Mei-Mei Senthavy, who is the team leader on offense with 10 goals and matching a team best four assist. Her stats combine for a 10 point edge to the next player with 24 points

Last season DBU took both matches against Newman with a 1-0 road win and later earned a 4-1 victory at Patriots Soccer Field. Senior Danielle Presley, the active team leader in goals this season, scored a pair of goals in the win. Sophomore Lindsey Eccles added a goal and assist on one of Presley's goals, with Cox picking up the assist on Presley's other. Classmate Annie Wells contributed an insurance goal late in the second half.

SCOUTING LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN – The Patriots will play their first road game in a month against one of the top teams in the Heartland Conference. If DBU wins Thursday the squads will enter Saturday in a tie for second place with 6-1 records in conference.

LCU (9-6, 6-1) suffered its first setback at the hands of first place St. Edward's 3-0 on Monday. The offense was stifled for 90 minutes, only taking three shots, and keeper Lauren Story allowed all three goals. She did grab five saves in the loss.

The Lady Chaps have scored 27 goals this season and have a trio of players with five apiece. Brooke Wendl, Emily Odom, and Jamie Boone create the trifecta of team leaders for the LCU offense. Wendl holds a slight edge on points with 14. Story has worked six of her nine wins for shutouts and sits at the half-century mark in saves with 50.

Last season neither squad faced each other, as this will mark the first year for the Lady Chaps to play in Heartland.

WORTH NOTING – Here are some other quick notes for Patriot's Women Soccer.
  • The Patriots current overall record 8-5-1 is their highest winning percentage this season and also is in the midst its longest winning streak.
