Men's Soccer Set for Final Road Trip

The Dallas Baptist Men's Soccer Team concludes its regular season with a pair of games on the road Nov. 2 and 4. Kicking off the road trip slate is a 12 pm match at Lubbock Christian on Saturday. DBU (6-8, 4-3) enters on a two-game winning streak and has shattered its previous totals in wins both overall and in Conference play.

LAST TIME OUT – The Patriots posted a season best five goals and relied on a solid defensive effort from freshman Mason Stringer in the net to earn a 5-2 victory over Rogers State in the final game at Patriots Soccer Field. DBU went 3-3 on the six-game home stand, the longest of the season for the Patriots.

Five individual players contributed to the effort including: sophomores Brian Robertson, Cameron Gilbert, and freshmen Riley Alvey, Brandon O'Donovan, and Seth Elliott. O'Donovan became the fifth player this season to tally his first career goal in the win.

Stringer made his fifth start of the campaign and now sits with a winning record at 3-2 facing 27 shots and notching a career-high 10 saves.

FINDING THEIR RHYTHM – The Patriots have scored eight times in its previous two games and added to a program best 29 goals, locking them in a tie for third in the Heartland Conference. DBU enters this weekend ranked fourth in the Conference standings at 4-3. Three teams are ahead of the Patriots in a three-way tie sitting at 6-1.

Leading the Patriots in scoring is Robertson with a personal best seven goals, and also holds the team lead in points with 24. Junior David Balyeat has been a steady contributor this year and follows with five goals and 13 points.

11 individual players have found the back of the net for DBU this season. Senior Rodrigo Barrientos and freshman Riley Alvey hold three goals this season, with two coming from each on the recent home stand. Wrapping up the multi-goal tally is sophomore duo Alex Becerra and Gilbert with two.

SCOUTING LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN – The Chaps (9-4-1, 6-1) hold one of the top spots in the Heartland Conference and are riding a four-game winning streak. One of LCU's more notable wins came in its most recent outing on Monday, topping the unblemished St. Edward's Men's Soccer Team 1-0. The Hilltoppers were a Top 25 ranked team at number 13 when Lubbock Christian shut them out.

Billy Forbes has been the leader on offense posting team bests 37 and 16 in points and goals, respectively. The next closest player ranking behind Forbes is Nick Gorrie with 17 points and six goals. As a team the Chaps have scored 32 times and allowed only 14 goals to get past the keeper. Anchoring this difficult defense is Erik Mozzo grabbing 64 saves in all 14 starts for LCU.

Some good news for DBU is that the Chaps haven't been unbeatable at home, posting a 3-2-1 record compared to 6-2 away from Lubbock, Texas. The squads did not meet in 2012.
