Dallas Baptist Wraps-up Home Schedule with Fifth Straight Win

Box Score

DALLAS – The Dallas Baptist Women's Soccer Team concluded its six-game home stand notching its highest goal output in the friendly confines with a 6-0 win over Newman on Thursday. The Patriots finish the home stand 5-1 and the regular season 7-2 at Patriots Soccer Field. NU (6-9, 3-5) falls to 2-6 on road.

It was a familiar scene for DBU once again relying on a high offensive output, tallying a season-high 35 shots with 17 counting on goal. Combined with that was a solid defense limiting opportunities while keeping the ball on the Patriots side of the field most of the night. Dallas Baptist pushes its season-long winning and shutout streak to five games. The impressive outing counts as career win number 75 for Head Coach Michelle Lenard.

The Patriots got the offense rolling in the first half with two goals from 17 shots. Breaking DBU into the scoring column first was a close shot by junior Lea Sedwick. The midfielder nailed her first of the season and came in the 21st minute.

The next goal came off an own goal by Newman University to double the Patriot's advantage 2-0 and would remain the rest of the way into halftime.

Senior Danielle Presley built onto her team-leading eighth goal of the season at the 53:05 mark. Seven of the Flower Mound, Texas, native's goals have come in Heartland Conference play.

Sedwick fired her second goal of the contest in the 59th minute matching DBU's highest scoring output on the home stretch 4-0.

Tallying a goal in her third straight match was sophomore Emilie MacDonald at the 76:32 minute mark. It was goal number four of the season, with all occurring during the forward's goal-match streak.

Junior Courtney Baxter added her first goal on the campaign with a close shot bumping the advantage 6-0 for DBU, and would stay that way the remainder of regulation.

Junior Kerry Edwards (9-5-1) claimed shutout number eight on the campaign, and collected a save in the victory. She has preserved five straight shutouts and helped prevent the opposition from scoring in the last 469 minutes.

Haley Borchers (6-9) was saddled with the loss allowing all goals in 90 minutes. She faced 35 shots and picked up 11 saves in the defeat.

After tonight's win, Dallas Baptist enters into a tie for second place with Lubbock Christian, which will be their next opponent Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 2:30 PM and marks the first of two on a final road trip for the Patriots.
