MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Dallas Baptist Men's Soccer team dropped a 4-0 contest Saturday afternoon to Christian Brothers University. The setback dropped DBU (1-1) to .500 after pulling out a thrilling opening win Thursday. The Bucs (1-1) also evened their record with the shutout.
It was an early challenge for the Patriots, with CBU firing off four consecutive shots in the first five minutes before junior
David Balyeat attempted a header that went wide. Jose Ferraz found the back of the net in the 12:54 minute to put the Bucs on the board 1-0 and also was the team's first goal of the season.
Both teams were physical this game, and the result was a fair share of foul calls on both teams. Christian Brothers received 20 fouls and four yellow cards, while the Patriots had 18 and two respectively.
Ferraz took advantage of one of the fouls, knocking a penalty kick in for his second straight goal of the game at the midway point of the half. DBU trailed 2-0 at halftime. CSU tacked on a pair of goals in the second half by Paul Banks and Matt Derise.
The Patriot offense didn't have an answer, being outshot 18-7 in the game. Goalkeeper, Jaime Garcia (1-1), got the win playing 90 minutes in the goal, while not having to record a save.
Sophomore,
Chuck Schober (1-1) allowed all four goals in 90 minutes of action in the net, and recorded six saves.
Dallas Baptist continues their six game road trip with a trek to Lakewood, Colorado, for a matchup verses Colorado Christian on Sept. 12. Start time is set for 7pm.
