GAME SUMMARYThe Dallas Baptist Men's Soccer Team was defeated 2-0 on Monday by Oklahoma Christian University. DBU (3-8-1, 0-2) has fallen in consecutive matches and remains in search of its first conference win.
The field conditions were less than ideal on a windy, wet day, as OCU (2-5-1, 1-1) led in the shot category, 16-12. The Eagles also placed a few more shots on goal, 9-7, and two of those reached beyond junior goalie
Chuck Schober to help lift the home squad.
Notching the first goal was Seth Brown off a header cross from the right side that came from a 30 yard pass. Troy Tipperconnic tallied the assist and helped Oklahoma Christian go ahead 1-0 at the 40:58 minute mark.
It was late enough in the frame to keep DBU at that deficit heading into intermission.
The 53
rd minute was another point the Patriots gave up a goal to Ante Susic, his fourth of the year. Brandon Little Axe took a shot that was rebounded by Susic.
DBU did boast a two-shot improvement in the second half, posting seven, but it was not enough to mount a comeback in the contest.
PLAYER LEADERS Redshirt sophomore
Landon Lacy paced the team with three shots. A quartet of Patriots claimed perfect shot on goal percentages including junior
Brian Robertson tallying a two-for-two afternoon. Also in that unit were juniors
Cameron Gilbert and
Alex Becerra, and freshman
Nathan McBride.
Classmate
Leevi Schwartz and senior
David Balyeat also produced multi-shot affairs for the road team.
Schober (0-5-1) took the loss in a seven save, two goals allowed, 90 minute outing.
OCU's Evan Helker tied the Patriots' keeper with seven saves in the shutout. Brown was credited with the game-winner and also was perfect in shots on goal with two.
