THE RUNDOWNIn their second to last game of the season in the Burg Center, the Dallas Baptist Volleyball team put on an offensive display by dominating Texas A&M-Commerce in straight sets. Senior
Erika Papadeas led DBU with a match high 18 kills and
Kaycie Bird had a match high 45 assists. This is the third match in a row the Lady Patriots have won in straight sets.
DBU would start out the set with a 4-1 lead against TAMUC, from there DBU would go onto extend the lead to 10-6. Later in the set the Lions would rally scoring three straight points and cut the Lady Patriots lead down to one with the score at, 16-15. As the set went on TAMUC would eventually tie DBU at, 24 to push the set into extra points, but the Lady Patriots would fend off the Lions and win the first set, 30-28.
Going into the second set both teams would play each other tightly with DBU holding the lead early. With the score 7-6, the Lady Patriots would begin to pull away from the Lions by scoring nine of the next 11 points bringing the score to, 16-8.The Lady Patriots would control the set from there forward and go up 2-0, winning the set, 25-17.
In the third set TAMUC would gain their first lead of the night at 3-2 and would try to maintain it, but it would not happen for the Lions as the Lady Patriots would come back to tie the set and get back into their offensive rhythm. DBU would go on multiple point streaks including a nine point explosion that pushed the score to, 17-7.The Lady Patriots would seal the fate of the Lions and win the set 25-16, winning the match.
