THE RUNDOWNThe Dallas Baptist Volleyball team had a setback this weekend as they were swept by the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith. For DBU
Kaycie Bird had 33 assists and
Tiara Gipson had 10 kill.
To open up the first set DBU and UAFS would be tied at three, from there the Lady Lions would begin to expand their lead. The Lady Lions would bring the score to 8-7 with the Lady Patriots down by one. UAFS would then score 10 of the next 13 points widening the lead to, 18-10. DBU would rally late to try and gain a lead, but it would not be enough as UA Fort Smith won the first set, 25-21.
In the middle of the second set DBU would go up 9-8 on UAFS, but the lead would be short lived as the Lady Lions would score five of the next points gaining the lead, 13-9. The Lady Lions would go on to control the rest of the set and win, 25-19.
In the third and final set of the night UA Fort Smith wasted no time jumping out to a lead against Dallas Baptist by creating a, 15-5 advantage. The multiple point streaks by UAFS were just too much for DBU as the Lady Lions would complete the sweep of the Lady Patriots, 25-16.
COACH'S QUOTE"UAFS played ball control volleyball. Solid play without a lot of mistakes and that is something we are struggling with right now. It was a nice wake up call, for the team to see the importance of serve receive and defense." - Coach
