Men's Soccer Drops 2-1 Contest at Newman

GAME SUMMARY
Dallas Baptist fell 2-1 at Newman University on Monday evening, completing a five-game road stint winless. DBU (3-12, 0-6) has dropped six-straight and is 1-8 away from the home confines of Patriot Soccer Field.

The Patriots have been close in most matches, including the last three all being decided by a goal. The squad is 3-4 in contests settled by a goal this season. Last year DBU went 3-6, and was 0-2 in overtime. When affairs go beyond regulation, the Patriots have triumphed in the pair of contests this season.

Newman (11-4-1, 5-2) did not build its double-digit record total so handily, as the Patriots nipped at a 2-0 deficit in the second half off junior Brian Robertson's third netter of the campaign.

The Patriots were outshot 10-8, and Robertson placed one of the team's pair of shots on goal to complete a 100 percent shots on goal display.

Junior Cameron Gilbert, Saturday's lone Patriot to score both goals at Rogers State, added the other shot on the target and had a multi-shot performance to go along with redshirt sophomore Landon Lacy.

Sophomore Mason Stringer (3-5) picked up a save and allowed both goals in his first start back in six matches. The Burleson, Texas, native goalie played 29:25 minutes relieving junior Chuck Schober in Saturday's match at Rogers State.

HIGHLIGHTS
DBU was trailing early to the Jets, who have done well at home earning their eighth win tonight. Luca Anelli punched his seventh goal of the year at the 10:44 minute mark from 10 yards out. Kerbson Lubin gained the assist on the setup.

Still less than 20 minutes into the affair, NU doubled the edge as Javier Rojas notched the first netter of the season, off a Taylor Henry Cross from the right side. The sequence occurred at the 18:09 portion of the contest.

DBU trailed by the same score, 2-0, at the break.

Robertson managed to help the Patriots cut the margin in half, 2-1, early in the second frame, but wasn't enough to get the visitors their equalizer. The native of Midlothian, Texas, recorded points in two-straight matches, credited with pair of assists in Saturday's result against the Hillcats.

Most of the shooting was done early in the second, as Dallas Baptist didn't create a shot attempt from the 58th minute to the 89th. The final effort happened at the 88:54 mark on a goal by Gilbert that was high.
