DBU Sweeps Texas A&M International

THE RUNDOWN
The Dallas Baptist Volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep over Texas A&M International on "Dig Pink!" Night at the Burg Center, to improve their record to 5-7, 3-4 in Heartland Conference play. Tiara Gipson had a match high 17 kills for the Lady Patriots and Kaycie Bird had a match high 41 assists on the night.

The Side-Out Foundation hosts "Dig Pink!" events across the nation to educate others about breast cancer and to raise funds to support research in the fight against the disease. Going into the first set of the night DBU would engineer a 7-3 lead to jump out in front of TAMIU. The Dustdevil's would climb back to tie up the score at 8, but would not be able to obtain a lead in the first set ultimately falling to the Lady Patriots, 25-20. In the second set it would be total domination by the Lady Patriots as they would jump out to a 15-5 lead over the Dustdevils. Despite a small run by TAMIU at the end of the set it was not enough as DBU would go onto win the set, 25-19.

Tied up at 16 in the third set, the Lady Patriots would end all hope of a Dustdevils comeback after putting together two separate three point runs to end the night in victory winning the set, 25-20 closing the match.

COACH'S QUOTE
"The difference between this win and others is that both our outside hitters were producing. That is a key to successful volleyball, great job on Krystal Wunderlich and Brooke Manley's part. What we've been working on is forgetting errors and I think I started to see that tonight. "-Coach Cathy Kokel
