THE RUNDOWNIn the final game of their three game home stand the Dallas Baptist Volleyball team defeated the St. Mary's Rattlers, 3-1. Freshman
Brooke Manley had a coming out party registering a match high 21 kills and
Kaycie Bird put up a match high 55 assists.
During the first set of the afternoon St. Mary's would control the lead midway through, until Dallas Baptist was able to take the lead at 11-10. Despite being able to tie StMu at times during the set that would be the only time DBU would see the lead, as St. Mary's would regain the lead and win the first set, 25-22.
After starting out behind 4-1 in the second set the Lady Patriots would battle back against the Rattlers to tie the set at 8. Dallas Baptist and St. Mary's would continue to exchange the lead from there forward, until with the set tied up at 25 DBU would score the final two points to put the Rattlers away in the second set, 27-25.
Riding the momentum from the second set the Lady Patriots would stay in front of the Rattlers for the entirety of the third set. At one point being up 20-15 Dallas Baptist would allow St. Mary's to rally back to tie the set up at 24, but it would be in vain as the Lady Patriots would fend off the Rattlers, 26-24. In the fourth set DBU would put an end to a pesky StMU, 25-20 behind nine kills in the fourth set by
Krystal Wunderlich.
COACH'S QUOTE"We had a lot of hitters producing and that made a huge difference in the game. We were very aggressive on the front row. We've been working on forgetting our errors and mentally pushing past when the other team does something well. We recovered very easily from our errors tonight and that's how you win games." - Coach
