THE RUNDOWNThe Dallas Baptist Volleyball team hit the road on Tuesday night to face the Tarleton State TexAnns. Despite winning their last two matches the Lady Patriots would fall to the TexAnns, 3-1 dropping DBU to 6-8 on the season. For DBU,
Kaycie Bird would have a match high 30 assists and
Carly Hess led DBU with 10 kills. Â Â
In the early going of the first set Dallas Baptist tried to hang in there with Tarleton State with the set tied at, 3-3. From that point TSU would go onto start building a lead that DBU would not able to catch. Multiple point streaks engineered by the TexAnns would ultimately help them secure a victory in the first set, 25-13.
From the
beginning of the second set TSU would control the lead by jumping out to a score of 17-9. The deficit would be too much for DBU to combat as they fell in the second set, 25-13.
With their backs against the wall facing a sweep, the Lady Patriots would play their best set of the night in the third. Starting the set down 3-0, DBU would battle back and gain their first lead of the night against TSU scoring four straight points. From there the Lady Patriots would not trail in the set again. Despite a late rally in the set by Tarleton State, Dallas Baptist would hold them off to win, 25-23 and gain their only victory of the match. Â
DBU would open the fourth set with momentum and generate an 11-9 lead over TSU. The TexAnns would respond by going on a six point run to take the lead, 15-11. The Lady Patriots would not be able to match the offensive fire power by the TexAnns and could not make a comeback falling, 25-16 in the final set of the night.
