THE LEAD
The Dallas Baptist Women's Soccer Team battles conference rival, St. Edward's University, on Saturday for a noon kickoff in the Heartland Conference Championship Match. It is the fourth year in a row the top two programs in conference have met in the tournament, with SEU owning a 2-1 edge.

DBU has been rolling lately, in the midst of an active season-long, 10-match winning streak. The torrid span began on a seven-game road stint, and has continued as the Patriots moved to 11 over .500; their highest winning percentage of the campaign.

The No.2–seed squad has also prevailed in eight affairs against conference opponents, all coming in a row since dropping the league opener versus St. Edward's in a 1-0 double overtime setback.

Whoever wins this contest qualifies with automatic bid for the NCAA South Central Regional next week.

LAST TIME OUT
DBU posted a goal per half, and secured its 11th shutout of the campaign in a 2-0 final versus Texas A&M International on Thursday afternoon in the Heartland semifinal match.

The first half witnessed each team adjusting to rainy field conditions the past couple days in Austin, Texas. TAMIU provided some early pressure on the Patriots' locked down backline, but could not break into the back of the net.

Sedwick already had taken two attempts, but finally got the third in on her characteristic header that has helped the four-year starter find multiple scoring results through her career. The Kennedale, Texas, native notched her fifth goal of the season in the 36:27 point of the match. MacDonald continues a nice point span she is currently on, with the forward tallying an assist on the first netter to lift DBU ahead.

It remained scoreless from that point on throughout most of the second, with the Dustdevils remaining in the game off six saves in the final stanza. DBU posted another double-digit shooting half, and Eccles secured things with her second goal of the year in the 72nd minute.

Patterson set the play up with a cross through the box, and the native of Denton, Texas, produced the team's second goal in the tournament by completing the sequence in the middle in front of the net.

CATEGORY LEADERS
MacDonald and Ashley Cox continue to guide the Patriots' scoring totals combining for 17 this season. MacDonald watched Cox match her in the goals category on Monday, but quickly resumed position at the top with her ninth.

The Cedar Hill, Texas, native boasts a career-best to go along with seven assists for 25 points. She boasts 12 points in the past four matches.

Cox remains a force as the forward increased her numbers to eight goals, seven assists, and 23 points entering the league tournament. She has mustered at least a point in nine of the past 11 contests, and seven have been at least two, with the latest affair marking a season-high at four.

The Midlothian, Texas, native also is atop of the shot and shots on goal categories with 78 and 34, respectively.

Junior Jolee Patterson ranks third on the team with five goals on the season. Her scoring result on Saturday against Texas-Permian Basin was her fourth in a conference affair, and ranks second behind MacDonald. The native of Royse City, Texas continues to bolster a career-best after surpassing the previous total of two in 2013.

Sedwick broke into double figures on points with 13, to move to sole possession at third on the squad. The senior has headed scoring results in back-to-back contests lifting her to five on the season, and has notched a .481 shot on goal percentage.

Eccles ranks second on the team with 22 shots on goal, and is in the top three with 45 just behind MacDonald who has 46.

SCOUTING THE HILLTOPPERS
St. Edward's University is coming off a 2-1 overtime thriller against St. Mary's University in Thursday's semifinal match-up to advance to the Championship. SEU remains unblemished in the Heartland Conference, and will be hosting the Patriots at its home venue, where the top seed has gone 7-3 this year.

In the extra regulation affair, the Hilltoppers received goals from Jennifer Boudreau and Katie Donahue early in the second half and overtime frame, respectively to prevail in the first round of the conference tournament.

Similar to DBU, St. Edward's has won nine in a row and is also eying a birth into the NCAA or NCCAA Regional following a familiar situation on Saturday.

Pacing the Hilltoppers offensively, who are averaging 2.12 per game, are a trio of players in double figures in points. This unit includes: Gracen Jacks, Lauren Heller, and Riana Soobadoo at 14,13, and 12, respectively.

Jacks holds the top spot on the team with five goals, while Heller and Soobadoo are right behind at four. Whytneigh Duffie has tallied three, and seven other Hilltoppers have notched multiple netters.

Lorrie Santoy has been a staple in the keeper's role for SEU, allowing only eight goals and posting a .52 goals-allowed-average. In 1376:25 minutes, the goalie has recorded 35 saves and been part of five shutouts.

SERIES HISTORY
The teams have met on the pitch the past couple years in a lot of highly contested matches, including three in the Heartland Championships.

In each one, the home team has triumphed, with SEU claiming a 2-1 edge in such games. This includes last season's 2-1 result lifting the Hilltoppers to the tournament title.

On the current campaign, each program has won on the road in a 1-0 decision. Ashley Cox helped lift the Patriots in the non-conference match at Lewis-Chen Family Field.

Nearly a week later in Dallas, Texas, Heller was the hero for St. Edward's as she netted the golden goal at the 100:59 minute mark of double overtime. It was a rare site for each squad to crack double-digits in shot attempts, with the Patriots producing a 15-13 margin.

Last time a feat like that happened was in Austin, Texas, on September 15, 2012.

Cox garnered a team-high, seven shots and placed three on goal.
