Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

O'Donovan's Goal in OT Leads Men's Soccer

THE RUNDOWN
The Dallas Baptist Men's Soccer Team posted a season-high four goals, and escaped its first road match with a 4-3 overtime victory at Southern Nazarene University on Thursday evening.

A trio of Patriot players scored for the first time on the campaign, including sophomores Riley Alvey and Brandon O'Donovan.

O'Donovan's goal in the 100th minute lifted DBU after Alvey knotted the affair at the 72:08 mark in regulation. It was the program's first win in extra frames since becoming a Division II affiliate in 2012. Prior to that the Patriots were 0-3.

The Patriots were outshot 24-18, but remained competitive all night, as each team shifted momentum throughout the contest.

Sophomore Mason Stringer (2-1) earned the win allowing three goals, and compiling season-bests with six saves in 99:28 minutes.

HIGHLIGHTS
After SNU's Blake Rodgers got the home team on the scoreboard late in the first half, redshirt sophomore Landon Lacy completed a header off a throw in from junior Brian Robertson to tie things in the closing 45 seconds before intermission.

Lacy wasn't finished, teaming up with junior Alex Becerra at the 55:16 minute mark to give DBU a 2-1 edge.

The Crimson Storm nipped the deficit and evened things, 2-2, a little over a minute later on a free kick 20 yards outside of the goal. Rodgers connected on a penalty kick at the 64:23 mark to push the advantage back to his squad, 3-2.

With nearly 18 minutes remaining in the second half, Alvey curved in his first goal of the season to eventually force the road squad's first overtime match of the young season. Becerra was credited with the assist.

This set up the late heroics for O'Donovan, who finished after Robertson and Alvey each created excellent spacing on passes that gave the College Station, Texas, native his first career golden goal.
