It is the Patriots (1-1-1) second of three games amongst a season-long home stand that wraps-up on September 16.
Fort Lewis is the third opposing squad the Patriots face who has received some national consideration in the early rankings. In the preseason NSCAA poll, Saturday's foe for DBU was listed No. 24 overall. After week 1, the Sea Hawks dropped out, but still received 11 votes, and are the third of four teams, DBU play to open the year.
The other schools included currently ranked No. 12 Colorado School of Mines and No. 18 Metro State University. The Patriots tied CSM in the season opener 1-1, and later finished the weekend with a 2-1 defeat at MSU.
LAST TIME OUTDallas Baptist earned the home opening win, topping Colorado Mesa University on Thursday night in front of a huge crowd at Patriot Soccer Field. It was the Patriots' first shutout of year, as they won 2-0.
DBU also posted a season-high 28 shots, placing 11 on goal for another season best. Junior
Emilie MacDonald broke through in the 75th minute for her first goal of the season off an inside shot that came on a pass from senior
Lea Sedwick.Fellow junior,
Ashley Cox, doubled the lead and netted her first goal as she threaded the ball about 20 yards away, sneaking it just beyond the keeper's reach in the upper center portion between the posts. The native of Midlothian, Texas, sealed the match for the home squad as her 19
th career goal occurred just under a minute remaining in regulation.
Senior
Kerry Edwards remained poised and snatched four saves, along with managing an excellent back-line that held CMU to seven shots in the affair.
PLAYERS TO WATCHEdwards continues to add to an already spectacular job her entire career at goalkeeper for Dallas Baptist. The McKinney, Texas, native has amassed 290 minutes, while pulling in 15 saves total against 41 shots faced.

rd time to suit up between the posts for the Patriots. She also clinched her 39
th shutout in her career after keeping the Mavericks scoreless.
Ashley Cox leads the squad with 11 shots and six shots on goal. She's the lone player to break double-digits at this point, but is closely followed by senior
Lea Sedwick, who has nine.
The Kennedale, Texas, native has the club-lead with three points, which she notched after getting the assist on the game-winner last night from MacDonald's goal. The midfielder is also 27 points away from 100.
MacDonald has seven shots to rank third on the squad.
HOME SWEET HOME The Patriots collected a 7-2 record last season, and have compiled a 22-6-1 showing the past three years.
This year the Women's Soccer Team only plays at Patriot Soccer Field six times. The longest stretch is the current three-game home stand. That could change if DBU finishes first in the Heartland Conference Standings and hosts the league tournament in November.
SCOUTING FORT LEWIS COLLEGEThe Skyhawks (1-1-1) fell 4-0 in their most recent action against Angelo State University on the neutral turf in Dallas, Texas. DBU was the host location for the two squads. FLC will play the Patriots on Saturday, before continuing its four-game road stretch.
After falling out of the Top 25 NSCAA rankings, Fort Lewis held some national recognition with 11 votes for placement in the poll. They're also coming off a season which saw them go 16-6 (10-4) and fall to Heartland Conference foe, St. Edward's University in the NCAA South Central Regional, 1-0 in overtime.
Leading them this season on the offense is Courtney Riley and Carolyn Archer. The duo scored the lone goals the team produced in its season-opening, 2-1 final against Texas Woman's University. Riley also has a team-high, three points.
Alicia Sanchez and Jordan Hix pace the squad with five shots and Brooke Milliet has been perfect with four shots on goal to reflect a 1.000 percentage.
Caitlyn Espinosa has garnered 180 minutes and allowed five goals, while picking up five saves. Kodie Johnson got the other start, which resulted in a 0-0 stalemate versus Midwestern State University. She picked up three saves in that contest.
