Men's Soccer Unable to Keep Pace With Ouachita

THE RUNDOWN
The Dallas Baptist Men's Soccer Team produced its highest scoring output since the last victory at Southern Nazarene to begin a five-game road trip. Still, it wasn't enough for the Patriots, as they dropped a 5-3 match at Ouachita Baptist University on Thursday evening.

DBU (2-5) has fallen in the last four contests, all coming away from the home confines of Patriot Soccer Field. The five goals allowed mark a season-high for the Patriots.

Trailing 2-0, junior Brian Robertson fired a 20-yarder that met the back of the net and nipped the deficit in half. It was the Midlothian, Texas, native's first goal of the campaign.

Senior David Balyeat also tallied his first netter early in the second half, narrowing the margin to a single score, 3-2. That was as close as the road squad would get on the night as OBU mustered another pair of goals to secure the win.

The Patriots matched Ouachita Baptist for eight shots on goal, but the Tigers were more efficient needing to take 11 shots, while DBU matched its second highest attempt total on the season.

HIGHLIGHTS
It didn't take long for OBU to break into the scoring column with a goal by Kaleb Banning in the 13th minute of the affair. Tinashe Chigede was credited with the assist, providing a cross from 18 yards out.

Banning was back in the action again moments later, providing his second score of the game and season off a deflation that was put back from six yards out. This doubled the edge for the Tigers at the 16:12 mark.

Robertson's goal at the 38:40 point of the half for the Patriots ended a 70:47 minute scoreless streak and cut the score in half.

OBU's Logan Hampton nullified the comeback effort with his third goal of the season at the 41:36 minute mark . A 3-1 score reflected the contest heading into the break.

Balyeat mustered the charge for the Patriots into the second stanza, as the Mesquite, Texas, native followed up a blocked shot from eight yards out to shift the momentum momentarily to his team.

Chigede and Colton Huie negated the run with a pair of netters that would push the current tally at the time to 5-2.

Lacy wrapped up the heavily scoring match-up, with his team-leading third goal off a cross pass from Balyeat. The forward's one-time occurred from eight yards and was executed at the 85:17 minute mark.
