Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Robertson Helps Men's Soccer Prevail in OT

GAME SUMMARY
The Dallas Baptist Men's Soccer Team came from behind and snapped a four-game slide in a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory against McMurry Saturday night. Junior Brian Robertson punched the game-winner at the 94:00 mark in extra regulation, and has now found the back of the net in consecutive matches.

DBU (3-5) has now gone 2-0 in overtime affairs, after posting an 0-2 result in the 2013 season. Saturday's win for the home squad also brings the historic record with McMurry to 3-3, with the Patriots claiming the most recent trio of games.

The team's 25 shot total boasts a season-best after posting 24 in an overtime win at Southern Nazarene. A double-digit display in the shots on goal category, 10, also notched a team-high on the season.

A quartet of Patriot players blasted multi-shot performances led by senior David Balyeat with seven. The forward also paced DBU by putting four shots on the target, a season and game-high.

Sophomore Riley Alvey and Robertson each pounded six shots with two shots on goal apiece. The duo also scored in the overtime triumph.

Redshirt sophomore Landon lacy added two shot attempts in the contest, rounding out the unit of the strong shooting night for the home team.

HIGHLIGHTS
A scoreless intermission resulted in back-and-forth play by both squads in this non-conference game following the first half. DBU did have an edge in opportunities with a 10-4 shot result. McMurry (2-5) was able to thwart the effort from the Patriots, with Ian McCarthy recording six of his eight saves in the frame.

The Warhawks grabbed a 1-0 advantage early in the second half off a goal by Kyle Riese. His long ranger off a free kick was struck just short of midfield and deflected barely off the hands of sophomore Mason Stringer to put the visitors on top in the 47th minute.

It was the Burleson, Texas, native's lone mistake in 94 minutes of action as Stringer (3-2) earned the win while nabbing three saves and facing 13 shots.

Alvey knotted things at the 52:09 minute mark with a far shot from right side of the box that snuck in the far left post. It was the forward's third goal of the campaign, bringing him to a tie in first on the squad with Lacy.

The current total ties the native of Hideaway, Texas, with his career-best set during his collegiate seasonal debut.

After battling to a 1-1 stalemate, the Patriots switched to attack mode, pressing five shots in overtime before Robertson's heroic shooting that lifted the Midlothian, Texas, native's team. Juniors John Kody Dale and Matthew Buckwalter each got credited with first assist of the season on the golden goal.
