THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Volleyball team was unable to snap the undefeated winning streak of the St. Edward's Hilltoppers as they fell 3-1. Tiara Gipson and Krystal Wunderlich would combine for 29 kills and Kaycie Bird and Austin Roberts would amass 41 assists. The Lady Patriots fall to 4-6 overall, 2-4 in Heartland Conference play.
The first set of the night would be fairly close between the Lady Patriots and Hilltoppers as they would go on to trade points early in the set. With the score tied at 10, DBU would go on a four point run and continue that momentum to win their only set of the night, 25-20.
SEU would answer back in the second set with their offense rattling off multiple three and four point runs throughout the set. The Hilltoppers would win the second set ,25-16. The offensive fire power would continue for St. Edwards as they started the third set with a 6-1 lead. Despite the Lady Patriots answering back with a run of their own to tie the game, it would not be enough as the Hilltoppers would win the third set as well, 25-23 taking a 2-1 match lead.
After controlling much of the fourth set, St. Edward's would go on to win the final set, 25-13 ending the match.
COACH'S QUOTE
"We are struggling to come together. Once we can figure out how to play as a team, expect a lot of great things from the girls. We have a lot of talent we just need to figure out how to get that showing from everybody at the same time on the court." – Coach Cathy Kokel
