KICKOFF
Dallas Baptist University dropped its first of two contests against ranked teams this week in a 2-0 loss to No. 13 St. Edward's at Lewis-Chen Family Field in Austin, Texas, on Wednesday. Pablo Covarrubias scored both goals for the Hilltoppers in the 28th and 84th minutes.
 
The Patriots were outshot 17-2 and 7-1 on goal. DBU goalkeeper Mason Stringer made five saves in the match. The Patriots take on No. 2 Midwestern State at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, at MSU Soccer Field in Wichita Falls, Texas.
 
ALVEY AMONG TOP IN HEARTLAND CONFERENCE
Junior forward Riley Alvey ranks third in the Heartland Conference in points (16) and goals (7) and leads the conference in game-winning goals (3).
 
STRINGER IN NATIONAL TOP 40
Mason Stringer continues to be among the nation's elite goalkeepers, ranking 27^th in Division II in save percentage (.818) and saves per game (5.40), and 31^st in total saves (54). Stringer leads the Heartland Conference in saves per game.
 
SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS
The only blemish for the undefeated Mustangs was a 2-2 draw on the road against Lubbock Christian on October 5. MSU is 6-0-0 at home and has outscored opponents 23-6.
 
The biggest threat to the Patriots is senior forward Albert Rodriguez, who ranks fourth in the nation in shots per game (4.7), 17^th in points (21) and 27^th in goals (8).
 
SERIES HISTORY
Riley Alvey scored the game-tying goal in the 72^nd minute in last year's 1-1 draw with Midwestern State, which was the first meeting between the two schools since the DBU Men's Soccer program started back-up in 2012.
