THE LEAD
Dallas Baptist University's 5-0 victory over Lubbock Christian on Thursday afternoon at Patriot Soccer Field was highlighted by the Patriots defense not allowing a single shot on goal. Senior goalkeeper Jenna Ackerly saw just six shots before handing the duties over to Grace Johnson in the 78th minute.

Forwards Maddie Owen and Ashley Cox scored a pair of goals to fuel the high-powered DBU offense. Owen, the Heartland Conference leader in assists, found herself on the other side of a scoring play, netting an unassisted goal in the 20th minute to open the scoring. She settled into her normal role two minutes later, crossing a ball to the back side of the net to set up Rebecca Kernen for her second goal of the season.

Cox scored in the 32nd and 47th minutes to extend the Patriot lead to 4-0 and increase her season goal total to five. Owen found the net for the second time in the 56th minute on another unassisted goal.

The thing I'm most happy about is the things that we put into play today that we have been spending a lot of time on in training this week. We created lots of good chances and got a lot of good goals as a result."
