Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

DBU Falls in Four to Texas A&M International

THE LEAD
The Dallas Baptist Volleyball Team fell to the Texas A&M International Dustdevils in four sets, 3-1, snapping their six match win streak. Madeline Dolberry led the Lady Patriots with 11 kills, while Kaycie Bird had 15 assists, and Lauren Nicks registered a match high 24 digs.

In the early goings of the first set, the two squads exchanged leads to tie the game at 7-7. After the tie, the Dustdevils would go on a five point streak to take a 12-7 lead over the Lady Patriots. DBU responded with a flurry of scores led by two consecutive kills by Sidnee Jo Fitzpatrick. The rally pulled the Lady Patriots within one point trailing TAMIU by only one score, 15-14. DBU was not able to keep up with the pace of the Dustdevils, as they scored only two more points in the set and fell, 25-17 to go down 0-1 in the match.

With the score knotted 10-10 in the second set, the Lady Patriots would begin to pull away from the Dustdevils. DBU started their run scoring four of the next six points, taking a 14-12 lead over TAMIU. As the set continued, with the Lady Patriots up 17-15, they extended their advantage 22-15, putting together a five point streak behind service aces by Hannah Ballew. The edge would give DBU enough room to cruise to a 25-18 second set win and tie the match, 1-1.

Taking a 5-4 lead in the third set, the Lady Patriots would watch as the Dustdevils scored six of the next seven points to gain the upper hand taking a 10-6 lead. From there TAMIU would continue to pull away from DBU going up by as many as seven points winning the third set 25-19, taking a 2-1 match lead.

The Lady Patriots jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the fourth set only to have the Dustdevils counter, scoring six of the next seven points to take a 6-4 advantage. DBU engineered a run helped by a trio of kills by Fitzpatrick, Cooper Martin, and Brooke Manley that pushed the Lady Patriots ahead 9-8, but the lead would be short lived as TAMIU scored nine of the next 12 points to go ahead 17-12. Undeterred by the scoring output, DBU gave the Dustdevils a taste of there own medicine taking advantage of a service error and turning it into seven straight points taking a 19-17 lead. The Lady Patriots went on to advance their lead to 23-19, before TAMIU pulled out another scoring outburst. The Dustdevils would score eight of the final ten points of the set going in to extra points for the win, 27-25, winning the match 3-1.
