KICKOFF
Dallas Baptist University fell to fifth place in the Heartland Conference after a 2-0 loss to St. Mary's on Thursday evening. The Patriots and Rattlers were tied for the last Heartland Conference tournament spot with nine points each heading into the match.
 
Ignacio Fernandez fueled the Rattlers' offense with an unassisted goal in the 28th minute and an assist on Victor Luna's 51st minute goal. St. Mary's outshot the Patriots 18-9 and 6-3 in shots on goal.
 
Goalkeeper Sean Bouland made two saves before handing over the duties to Mason Stringer in the 54th minute. Stringer made two saves as well in his first appearance since October 17.
 
DBU wraps up the regular season against Texas A&M International on Saturday, October 31, at Noon at Patriot Soccer Field.
 
STRINGER AMONG HEARTLAND'S TOP GOALIES
Mason Stringer ranks third in the Heartland Conference in saves per game (4.92) and ranks fifth in total saves (59). Stringer set career highs in games played, minutes played, saves, wins and shutouts this season.
 
RECORD SEASON FOR ALVEY
Junior forward Riley Alvey set single-season career highs for goals scored, shots and game-winning goals. He ranks among the top 10 in the conference in each of those categories and leads in game-winning goals with three.
 
SCOUTING THE DUSTDEVILS
Texas A&M International enters Saturday's match on a three-game losing streak, most recently to No. 14 St. Edward's by a score of 2-0. The Dustdevils can clinch a spot in the Heartland Conference tournament with a win over DBU, a Newman loss and a St. Mary's loss.
 
The biggest threat to DBU are juniors Tayeb Ahmadi, who has four goals and five assists on the year, and Ryan Hodgson, who leads TAMUI with five goals scored.
 
SERIES HISTORY
DBU is 0-3-0 all-time against the Dustdevils and dropped last year's match 3-1 in Laredo, Texas.
