DBU Advances to Conference Championship

THE LEAD
Dallas Baptist University advanced to the Heartland Conference Women's Soccer Championship with a 4-0 win over St. Mary's on Friday afternoon. In front of a crowd of 242 at Patriot Soccer Field, McKenna Namken scored two second half goals to fuel the Patriots dominant offense. DBU outshot the Rattlers 24-3 in the match and 14-2 on goal.

Senior forward Ashley Cox, the 2015 Heartland Conference Offensive Player of the Year registered two assists and scored a goal of her own in the 62nd minute. Junior forward Cecily Martinez opened the scoring in the match with a header off of a corner kick by Cox.

The DBU defense, led by 2015 Heartland Conference Defensive Player of the Year Emilie MacDonald, held St. Mary's to zero shots in the first half. Senior goalkeeper Jenna Ackerly made two saves in the match.
