THE LEAD
The Dallas Baptist Men's Basketball Team fell to Colorado Christian, 77-71, in the National Christian College Athletic Association Championship game in Winona Lake, Indiana, on Saturday.  In a rematch of the NCCAA Regional Championship game, junior Tim Simmons would lead DBU with 15 points on the afternoon, shooting 75% from the field and 3-for-3 from behind the three point line. Shannon Lilly and Myles Johnson would also score in double figures chipping in 14 and 13, respectively.

Despite the two teams playing each other very closely, the Patriots would find themselves playing from behind early in the first half.  With CCU up 16-12 with 11:30 remaining, DBU would make a push to take the lead with a Lilly score sparking a seven point run to take a 19-16 advantage over the Cougars.

As first half play continued, Dallas Baptist would not relinquish the lead and go up by as much as nine points in the half staying in front 32-23.  Colorado Christian would answer back with a run of their own, scoring the final eight points heading into half time, cutting Dallas Baptist lead to only one point, 32-31.

To start the second half the squads would trade scores regularly to keep the match-up close. With 9:06 left in the game CCU would break away from a 48-48 tie with the Patriots on a three-pointer by Michael Brown that put Colorado Christian ahead, 51-48.

Dallas Baptist would be able to come back and cut the deficit to one point after two Johnson free throws, but the Cougars extended their lead to 57-50, after putting together another run of six points.  CCU would continue their hot run on offense lead by Zach McLemore and Wayne McCullough, as the Cougars would go up by as many as 12 points down the final stretch of the game.

Dallas Baptist would make one final push at a comeback late in the game, but there would not be enough time, as DBU would eventually fall 77-71 to Colorado Christian
