Baseball Blasts Bradley, 16-7, to Take Series

THE LEAD
No. 16 Dallas Baptist used an explosive offensive attack to win 16-7 over the Bradley Braves in game one of a double-header on Saturday afternoon at Horner Ballpark.  With the victory, DBU (26-6, 8-3) claims the series win over the Braves.

After falling behind 3-0 for the second straight time versus Bradley (21-9, 2-3), the Patriots scored at least one run in every inning from the second through eighth innings, including a four-run second that put DBU on top 4-3.  Following a Chane Lynch double in the second that cut the deficit to 3-1, Drew Turbin homered for the second straight day, as he blasted a three-run shot over the wall in right.

in the top of the third, Bradley tied the game at four apiece on an Evan Gruener single that brought home Tyler Leffler.  The Patriots responded with three runs of their own in the third to retake the lead, as a David Martinelli RBI double put the Patriots up 7-4.

On the mound, DBU starter, Cory Taylor, was lifted for Sean Stutzman in the fourth inning.  Stutzman would work four-plus innings and allow two runs, as the Patriots extended their lead to 16-7 going into the ninth.  Home runs by Camden Duzenack and Daniel Salters highlighted the Patriots' offensive fireworks, as DBU pounded out 17 hits on the afternoon.

Among the 17 hits, five belonged to Drew Turbin, who tied a career-high with five hits on the afternoon.  It marks the second time in as many weeks that Turbin has pieced together a five-hit game, as the senior from Hayden, Idaho, notched five hits at Missouri State last Saturday.

In the top of the ninth, Dalton Higgins worked a scoreless frame to hand the Patriots their 17th consecutive win at home.
