Patriots Draw Season Opener Against Harding

THE LEAD
Dallas Baptist tied its season opener in a 1-1 match against Harding University at Stevens Field in Searcy, Arkansas, on Thursday.  Redshirt freshman Brooks Friedman gave the Patriots an early lead when he connected on a pass from the center of the box by sophomore forward Riley Alvey in the 30th minute.
 
The equalizer came in the 55th minute after junior midfielder Jackson Buchanan's through ball found forward Barry Foster, who finished the play with his sixth career goal.  DBU finished the game with 14 shots and seven shots on goal, but could not find the back of the net a second time in the final 35 minutes.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
3 – The Patriots have gone to extra time in their last three games dating back to 2014.
65 – Alvey led DBU with four shots and increased his career total to 65.
5 – The Patriots were eager to get a second goal, but were called offside five times.
