Patriots Pick Up 1-0 Road Win Over Oklahoma Christian in Extra Time

THE LEAD
The Dallas Baptist University Women's Soccer team defeated Oklahoma Christian University, 1-0, in extra time on Saturday afternoon at Eagle Soccer Field in Oklahoma City. McKenna Namken scored the gamewinner just 1:51 into the first overtime period to lift the Patriots over the Eagles.

After a scoreless 90 minutes, of regulation, DBU controlled the ball early in the first extra time, earning three consecutive corner kicks. The third one was a charm for the Patriots, creating a scramble in front of the net in which Namken found the back of the net for the third time this season.

DBU goalkeeper Hope Koym picked up a clean sheet and made seven saves, and her OCU counterpart, Carina Schanz, made five saves. With just two games remaining in the season, the Patriots move to 8-5-3 on the year and 8-2-2 in Heartland Conference play.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
 - Namken's goal was her first since scoring a gamewinner in a 1-0 win over Lubbock Christian on September 17.
 - With the win and a Lubbock Christian loss, DBU clinched a spot in the Heartland Conference tournament.
 - The Patriots finish the regular season with a 5-3-2 road record, their best road mark since going 9-1-1 in 2014.

COACH MICHELLE LENARD - ON PULLING OUT THE WIN
"We have struggled all season to find a way to put games away and find goals. At this point in the season, we are just working hard to find a way to win. It doesn't always have to look the way we want it to, but for us to be successful, we just have to work hard for a break through each game. Good teams find a way to win, and this what we are trying to do."

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
420 - DBU has only allowed one goal in the last 420 minutes of conference play.
35 - Hope Koym has 35 saves in her last four matches.
11 - The Patriots had 11 different players record a shot in the match.
