THE LEAD
The Dallas Baptist University Women's Soccer team defeated St. Mary's University, 2-1, on Thursday evening at Patriot Soccer Field in Dallas, Texas. 
Geneva Martinez scored the gamewinning goal in the 83rd minute to life the Patriots over the Rattlers.
St. Mary's struck first in the 28th minute on a miscue by goalkeeper 
Hope Koym, who cleared a ball into a St. Mary's attacker, but the ball bounced back into the net to give the Rattlers a 1-0 lead. 
Emmy Niece scored the equalizer in the 55th minute after earning a free kick, which she placed in the lower right corner past the hands of Erin Longford.
In the 83rd minute of the match, 
Rebecca Kernen's shot richocheted off the bar in the direction of 
Geneva Martinez, who finished off the play for the go-ahead goal. The Patriots improve to 9-5-3 and 9-2-2 in the Heartland Conference.
