SCOUTING TEXAS A&M INTERNATIONAL
After starting the season 0-13-0, the Dustdevils showed signs they might salvage the season with a win over Oklahoma Christian and a draw with Rogers State to give them their first points of the year. However, TAMIU dropped its last two matches to Newman and St. Edward's by a combined score of 9-1.
Â
Cio Bargallo, the team leader in goals (6), has scored half of her goals in the last three matches. The freshman scored twice in a 10-minute span in the 2-2 tie with Rogers State, and she netted the only goal in a 3-1 loss to Newman. Goalkeeper Kiyana Lopez has struggled in the last three games, allowing 11 goals, which has put her goals against average over three.
Â
SERIES HISTORY
DBU has won 15 of the last 16 meetings with TAMIU and is 19-1-1 all-time against the Dustdevils. The Patriots defeated TAMIU in Laredo in September behind a two-goal performance by
Kristina Williamson. For the second time in the match,
Emmy Niece connected with Williamson, who beat a defender at the top of the box and scored the game winner with 31 seconds remaining.
