THE LEADNo. 29 DBU defeated the University of the Incarnate Word 17-1 on Tuesday night at Horner Ballpark behind a five-hit, four-home run performance by first baseman
Darick Hall. The four home runs ties a school record, as Hall becomes the fourth player in school history to accomplish the feat. The Patriots offense combined for six homeruns and 23 hits in the offensive outbreak.

Jordan Martinson (1-0) earned the win for DBU with four innings of shutout work, allowing just two hits with three strikeouts. Jake Bedevian (1-3) suffered the loss for the Cardinals after giving up three runs on three hits in the first inning.

DBU jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, highlighted by a two-run homerun by Hall. The Patriots increased the lead to 8-0 in the second on a pair of homeruns by Hall and Listi. Hall led off the fourth inning with his third trip around the bases to extend the margin to 9-0.
Camden Duzenack made it 10-0 with an RBI single later in the inning to knock in
Austin Listi. In the fifth inning,
Justin Wall joined the long-ball club with a solo-homerun. Â

The Cardinals got on the board in the sixth inning on an RBI single off the bat of Austin Hoffman. DBU responded in the bottom of the inning with a sacrifice fly by Duzenack. Hall went deep for the fourth time of the night in the seventh inning to push the lead to 14-1. The Patriots tacked on three more in the bottom of the eighth behind two bases loaded singles by Wall and
Sam Mrstik.
