THE LEAD
DBU defeated Evansville 12-2 on Saturday afternoon at Horner Ballpark to win the weekend series against the Purple Aces. Starting pitcher
Darick Hall pitched six innings of scoreless baseball and went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Hall (6-3) allowed just six hits and struck out six Evansville batters to pick up the win. Brent Jurceka (5-3) suffered the loss after giving up 10 runs on 13 hits in four innings of work.

The Patriots jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first inning, thanks to a two-run double by Hall and a two-run homerun by centerfielder
Jameson Hannah. In the following inning, left fielder
Daniel Sweet singled in third baseman
Tim Millard to extend the lead to 5-0. DBU added a sixth run in the third inning, when first baseman
Austin Listi scored on a fielder's choice and a throwing error by Jurceka.

In the fourth inning, the Patriots exploded for four more runs, highlighted by a two-run shot off the bat of Listi. The Aces got on the board in the top of the seventh inning on a pinch-hit two run homerun by Matthew Jones. Catcher
Matt Duce doubled in Listi in the bottom of the inning for a walk-off run-rule victory.
