THE LEAD
DBU defeated Evansville, 12-8, on Sunday afternoon at Horner Ballpark to complete the sweep in the weekend series. Right fielder
David Martinelli went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored to fuel the Patriot offense.

Dalton Higgins (6-3) pitched 5.1 innings of relief, allowing just one run on four hits, to pick up the win. Alex Weigand (3-2) gave up six runs on nine hits in 3.2 innings of work to suffer the loss.

Evansville took advantage of the whipping winds with a pair of three-run homeruns by Jeff Christen and Trey Hair in the second inning. DBU responded with two runs on two outs in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by an RBI double off the wall by second baseman
Luke Stratman. The Patriots continued to chip away at the Purple Ace lead in the third inning when left fielder
Austin Listi singled in Martinelli to make it 6-3.

In the fourth inning, DBU rallied for three runs to tie the game, led by Martinelli's two-run triple down the line in right field. The Patriots turned the tables in the fifth inning with another three-run frame, highlighted by a two-run single by first baseman
Darick Hall. The Purple Aces ended the DBU run in the seventh inning with an RBI double by Josh Jyawook, but the Patriots got three back in the bottom half of the inning, including a two-run homerun by Hall.
