Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

DBU Outlasts Lubbock Christian, 1-0

THE LEAD
The Dallas Baptist University Women's Soccer team defeated Lubbock Christian University, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon at Patriot Soccer Field in Dallas, Texas. McKenna Namken scored the gamewinner just 44 seconds into the match.

On a DBU throw-in, Namken headed the ball to Lindsey Washburn, who headed into the path of Namken for a clear header on goal. The Patriots survived the ensuing 89:16 by stingy defense and five saves by goalkeeper Hope Koym.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
- All four of DBU's goals this season have either been scored or assisted by McKenna Namken.
 - The Patriots have not allowed a first-half goal in five straight matches.
 - Despite earning the win, DBU was outshot 13-6.

COACH MICHELLE LENARD - ON THE SUCCESS OF GOALIE HOPE KOYM
"We have four goalkeepers competing for playing time right now, and they're all working hard and trying to contribute. Hope was given an opportunity to step up and has managed the pressure really well. She's made big saves for us and kept us in games. She's just working hard and getting better every day. Any time you replace a goalkeeper of Jenna Ackerly's status, you never know exactly what to expect with someone who doesn't have the experience that Jenna had. Right now, Hope is doing an excellent job for us, and, most importantly, she's a team player. She's willing to do whatever we ask her to do, and right now that's to make big saves and keep us in games."

HOPE KOYM - ON SURVIVING A CLOSE GAME AFTER AN EARLY GOAL
"We defintely had to really focus on defense, because we didn't want to make a silly mistake and let them back in. We did great trying to keep them out and getting the ball forward. I'm really proud of our defense."
