The DBU Hockey team traveled to Odessa, Texas, to take on Texas Tech University in a two game series this past weeked. The Patriots swept the Red Raiders, beginning with an 8-1 win on Friday night and a Saturday night victory of 5-2. The Patriots now sit on top of the North Division of the Texas Collegiate Hockey Conference with a perfect record of 5-0.

On Friday, DBU opened the scoring quickly and often with
Spencer Ericksen netting one just before a minute was off the clock.Â
David Kendall and
Elliott Usvolk led all scorers with two apiece. The Patriots were firing on all cylinders scoring the first five goals of the game and then finishing with three unanswered. Other scorers for DBU consisted of
Shawn Fangman,
Jeremy Fortner,
Patrick Lee and
Lane Haught with his first collegiate goal. Goalie,
Josh Messick allowed only one goal on 37 shots.

On Saturday night, the scoring started with Texas Tech in the first, but DBU answered with two quick goals from
Trenton Lee and
David Kendall to put the Patriots up 2-1 after the period.Â
Jeremy Fortner added another breakaway goal to put DBU up 3-1, but Tech responded with a goal shortly after, bringing the game close in the third. DBU put the game away with goals from
Elliott Usvolk and the clincher and second goal of the game from freshman,
David Kendall.
